Tools and Implements

A blade from a woodworking tool

Half a snaffle-bit for a horse of 13 hands

 Stirrup fragment with silver overlay

Rivets, probably from a boat

Iron sword guard with decoration beneath its corrosion

Lead was cast to form these weights.  They were probably used for oyster-dredging.

There were fragments of  glass which probably came from pouch-bottles or squat jars.

These shavings and off cuts of whalebone show that this material was being made into a variety of items, e.g. a whalebone writing-tablet such as that found at Blythburgh.

Shed antlers would have been worked into combs and tools.

The tips of one antler tine had been shaped, probably for use in tooling leather.
