This building still stands on what is now called Daines Lane.
Charles William Daines, Sieve and basket maker, was born in 1867 and died in 1941. He lived at Beulah Villa to the right of the lane and his workshop was just behind it. Men an women worked in the sheds behind the main shop. See the next photograph.

Stripping the willow behind Charles Daines' workshop.
Osiers were cut between January and March. The bark was stripped off on a stripping iron - a forked piece of iron/ Each osier was drawn through twice, making the bark fall of cleanly.
